This earring and necklace design is based on jewels of the 1940s, luminous jeweled expressions of summer and autumn. They feature satin glass leaves and blossoms, originally termed 'fruit salad." A The satiny finish reflects light as a soft glow which travels through each art glass element. I sculptured the mid-century style interlocking links to hold the art glass and faceted crystal ovals in pale lemon, light topaz and lilac. For the lover of vintage jewelry, you'll be enchanted. Earrings: 1.75" Necklace: 17" with 4" extender. All Swarovski crystal. Designed and produced at Sweet Romance in our Los Angeles studio.
Background note from Shelley: Molded glass flowers began as experimental elements in small factories of Czechoslovakia in the 1930s. Intervening war years either suspended or forever closed most producers of decorative glass arts. Then, after WWII, several workshops sputtered alive again, turning out beads and jewelry elements with artistic forms and finishes. Post war fashion took a dramatic turn from structured suits to light feminine silhouettes.
