A dramatic interplay of lines and curves gives this Asian inspired necklace its distinctive art deco appeal. A vintage floral carved green jade glass panel is held in a frame of smoke crystal, old ruby baguettes and sapphire blue crystal squares The fringe of vintage jade glass drops and jeweled deco links add to this necklace style, called the sautoir. Sapphire blue crystal squares form the bail which slides along a triple strand neck chain of jeweled art deco stations. Burnished bronze finish. Made in our Los Angeles studios.
The Inspiration: All of the decorative arts of the deco period were influenced by the mystique of the Orient. I acquired this glass panel and teardrops many years ago from an importer in New York who had been the primary dealer of glass jewels during the 1930s and 1940s. These vintage elements are used very selectively for my limited edition jewelry designs. I blend the elements with settings we create especially for them in designs appropriate for the very spirit of their original era.
